- Education: To be eligible for an internship under the United Nations Internship Programme, one has to fulfil the following requirements:

- Hold a second university degree or its equivalent, or be enrolled in graduate programmes;
- Be enrolled in a first university degree course in journalism, communications, human development, psychology, sociology, disability inclusion, international relations, human resources, or a similar discipline, with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent; or
- Possess a university degree (as described in a and b above), and if chosen, the internship must start within a year following graduation;
- If studying in a nation where there is no distinction between undergraduate and graduate degrees, they must have completed at least four years of full-time study at a university or other
- Possess a working knowledge of typical office automation equipment (such as a scanner, printer, etc.) and be computer savvy with word processing and software programmes like Microsoft Word and Excel or equivalent.
- Possess a strong personal commitment to the principles of the United Nations Charter and have shown a genuine interest in the organization’s operations.
- Possess a track record of effectively interacting with people from diverse cultural origins and beliefs, including the capacity to strive to comprehend and be tolerant of opposing ideas.
