Best Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program 2024-25 Chicago in USA. International students who wish to mold themselves into the next generation of business reporting leaders are welcome to apply for the Journalists in Residence Program. Launched in March 2017, the Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program provides emerging journalists from all over the world working in press types with a transformative learning environment.Best Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program 2024-25 Chicago in USA
Throughout the program, which will run for about 12 weeks on our Hyde Park campus, a select group of participants will work with peers, attend events, audit classes, and mingle with the university’s top academics. At the Chicago Booth, attendees will select their own classes. The Firm and the Non-Market Environment with Professor Marianne Bertrand is one example of a course.
Program participants are expected to:
- Audit three classes.
- Attend classes, engage in active learning, and finish all assigned readings and homework.
- Attend Stigler seminars, lunches, and social gatherings in addition to any other activities the center suggests.
- Attest to the mutual agreement between you and the center regarding the program’s guidelines and expectations by signing a letter of agreement.

- Working journalists who have some years of media experience are recommeded.

- Provide three copies of news articles that have been published, preferably in English. The original articles should be submitted with a translation if they are not in English.
- Please provide links to your audio and video files in a Word or PDF document, along with transcriptions into English, for journalists covering TV or radio.
- Personal essays (500 words max)
- Explain why you are interested in the program and what you hope to gain from it.
- Tell us more about your background, your interest in political and economic economy, and the things you hope to learn about these subjects.
- Two letters of recommendation
- Proof of English proficiency (if applicable)
- Proof of English proficiency is required for non-native English speakers (waived if your undergraduate or graduate degree was obtained in an English-speaking country or at a college/university where English is
- The primary language of instruction). Examples of evidence of fluency in English include:
- Accomplishments or results from standardized examinations (TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, ACT, Cambridge, Duolingo, etc.)
