Eligibility Criteria for Shandong University Scholarship in 2024
You have to meet the following requirements to be qualified for a Shandong University Scholarship:
- Eligible Countries: All world countries except China
Degree and age requirements:
- Applying to Bachelor programmes requires applicants to have completed high school or have an equivalent qualification and be under 25; applying to Master programmes
- Requires applicants to have completed a Bachelor’s degree or have an equivalent qualification and be under 35; applying to PhD programmes requires applicants to have
- Completed a Master’s degree or have an equivalent qualification and be under 40.
- Possess outstanding academic achievement and a solid background in scientific research.
- During the time that they receive the SDU Scholarship, the candidate is not eligible to receive any other Chinese government-funded scholarships.

Language requirements:
For programs taught in Chinese:
- For admission to Bachelor’s programmes, candidates must have scored 210 points or higher on the HSK 4 test.
- For admission to Master’s programmes, candidates must have scored 180 points or higher on the HSK 5 test.
- For admission to PhD programmes, candidates must score 180 points or higher on the HSK 6 test.
For programs taught in English
- British, American, Canadian, New Zealand, and Australian native speakers of English.
- To demonstrate their English competence, English speakers must submit their results from the IELTS (6.0 or higher), TOEFL (80 points or above; Mybest Scores are recognised), or other comparable certifications (DI code for Shandong University: C296).
- English speakers don’t need to submit their IELTS or TOEFL results if they have earned the highest degree or certificate from an institution where English is the primary language of teaching. It must be proven officially that English is the language of teaching.

The SDU Online Application System for International Students must be accessed by qualified candidates (http://www.apply.sdu.edu.cn) to complete the application process. The electronic Application Form for the Shandong University Scholarship for Outstanding International Students must be filled in in Chinese or English so they can apply for the scholarship program. The applicant must sign the application, scan it, and upload it to the system. There will be no need for postal applications on paper.
