NAVTTC Enroll 56000 Youth During FY 2024

June 11, ISLAMABAD (APP): According to the notable accomplishments of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) in FY 2023–2024, 56,000 young people are presently registered in the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme (PMYSDP).

The initiative, a Rs 4.9 billion program for skill training in emerging 39 IT, 53 Industrial, and 34 hardcore skills, was introduced by Minister of Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb on Tuesday, according to the Economic Survey 2023–24. The program targets both domestic and international job markets, particularly those of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Gulf countries, the European Union, and eastern states like Japan and Korea.

Additionally, 37,999 young people with technical hands-on skills in IT, Industrial, and Conventional technologies were trained under the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme during the current fiscal year with the goal of bridging the skilled workforce gap between the supply and demand (i.e., supply: 0.47 million versus demand of 1.2 million).

Likewise, 3,700 non-professionally qualified individuals were evaluated and granted certification as proficient professionals under NAVTTC’s Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) initiative. The National Accreditation Council recognized a total of 100 TVET institutes under the TVET stream last year.

On the other hand, by the end of April 2024, NAVTTC will have finished updating the National Vocational Qualification Framework and National Skills Strategy. To teach young people about game creation, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and cloud computing, 16 general education institutions are being transformed into high-impact IT training facilities under the direction of the Ministry of Federal Education.

According to the study, as part of the PMYSD Programme, 16 FDE institutions are collaborating with NUST, NUML, COMSATS, and NSU to offer skill training for 500 students in high-impact IT courses during the fourth quarter of FY 2024.

In response to the Prime Minister’s directions, NAVTTC is launching new projects with the goal of enhancing IT and industrial exports by providing 100,000 youth with High-Tech/information technology skills, 100,000 youth with conventional skills, and 150,000 young with Industrial IR4.0 skills over the next three years.

By the Prime Minister’s directions, NAVTTC intends to start a novel skill-training program that will teach 12,000 young people in hydropower, hospitality, mining and minerals, agriculture and livestock, construction, and regional trades. 1,000 young people will be proficient in Arabic, English, German, Japanese, and Korean thanks to real language training platforms run in association with training service providers like NUML.

In accordance with the criteria of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, 3,000 Madrassa students will be proficient in conventional and industrial skills, and e-learning material creation for 200 TVET Qualifications is underway in partnership with Virtual University (VU).

Under NAVTTC’s Skill Development Initiatives, almost 5,000 young people will receive training in small, medium, and big industries each year, as well as 5,000 in various entrepreneurship courses, encouraging self-employment and an entrepreneurial culture in young people.
