The Gates Scholarship 2024-2025 is a fully funded undergraduate scholarship for American students. This scholarship pays for books, room and board, transportation expenses, tuition, and fees.
A highly competitive last-dollar scholarship, the Gates Scholarship (TGS) is awarded to exceptional minority high school seniors from low-income families. 300 of these student leaders receive the scholarship each year to support them in reaching their full potential.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the process employed by a Scholar’s college or university will be used to determine the expected family contribution and the full cost of attendance* that is not already covered by other financial aid. Scholars will receive funding for these costs.

Eligibility Criteria for The Gates Scholarship Program

- A senior in high school
- From at least one of the racial groups listed below: African-American, Asian and Pacific Islander American,
- American Indian/Native Alaskan, Hispanic, and African-American
- Qualifiable for Pell
- A US citizen, national, or permanent resident in good standing academically, having at least a 3.3 cumulative weighted GPA (or equivalent) on a 4.0 scale.
- A student must also intend to enrol full-time in a four-year degree program at a private or public, not-for-profit college or university in the United States that has received accreditation.
Note: *Proof of tribal enrollment will be needed for American Indians and Alaska Natives.
- The following qualities will characterize an ideal candidate:
- An exceptional high school record (in the top 10% of the graduating class)
