SASSA Old Age Grant Increase 2024
Due to the ongoing financial hardships faced by many elderly South Africans, the Sassa old-age grant was increased from 2024 to 2025. Social assistance would rise by over 5%, according to a statement made by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana at the budget presentation for the fiscal year 2024–2025.
In 2024–2025, 17.5 million participants were expected to receive subsidies for child support and old age. In addition, the minister of finance stated that the state expects the number of Old Age Grant recipients to rise over the next three years.

SASSA Old Age Grant
South African nationals who are 60 years of age or older can apply for financial support under the Old Age Grants programme. The maximum amount you will receive each month is R 2,090. If you’re over 75, you’ll get R2 110.
To be eligible for this grant, you have to be a South African citizen, a permanent resident, or a refugee. Furthermore, you are not eligible to receive any other social grant. Additionally, you must not have more assets than R 2 227 600 for single people or R 2 455 200 for married people.
If your situation changes, it can be suspended. In 2024, the Old Age Grant will have increased from R390 in 1994 to R2,090.

SASSA Old Age Grant Payment Mode
If your grant application is approved, you will get payment as of the application date. SASSA provides the grant in a variety of ways. Electrified deposits deposited into your bank or Postbank account (although the bank may charge for this service), cash paid at a specific pay point on a scheduled day, and institutions like assisted living homes are a few examples of these.
