Increase the Rate of Social Welfare
The maximum rate of all weekly social assistance payments will rise by €12 starting in January 2024, with increases commensurate with reduced rates of payment and qualifying adult rates.
The weekly fee for an eligible child will increase by €4. The price for children under 12 will increase to €46 from €42. Beginning in January 2024, children 12 years of age and upwards will pay an extra €54 as opposed to €50.
It is also expected that the budget would reveal an increase in student funding. For the academic year that begins in January, more than 50,000 students will receive an increase of more than 300 euros. Postgraduate student grants may also increase dramatically.
